Shea’s passion for motorsports started at 16 and she quickly excelled in high-performance driving events throughout Florida. She then went on to obtain her SCCA license and has since been road racing competitively all over the nation, from sprint races to 25-hour enduros.
Last season, her first as part of the TrueCar Racing Women Empowered Initiative and her third competing in the Pirelli World Challenge, Shea had two-podium finishes, nine top-fives (64%) and 12 top-tens (86%) to finish fourth in the Championship. In 2011, Shea became the first woman to ever win a Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car race and the fourth woman to win a professional race at Long Beach, when she won at the Long Beach Grand Prix.
“Fear is a state of mind, will is an action taken.” Shea lives by this quote and believes through commitment and determination, anything is possible. Shea is also an accomplished national champion water skier holding numerous state, regional and national titles.
Shea has raised tens of thousands of dollars and awareness for her charity of choice, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), which benefits Duchenne muscular dystrophy, an illness that has affected her own family.
